What is an Autoresponder and what use is it anyway?

The very first promotional business tool that we purchased when we started out was an autoresponder system. The sophistication of the software has increased several fold since that time, but it is still one of the central tools in our marketing strategy.

Simply put, an autoresponder is like an answering machine for E-mail. When someone sends it a message, it sends back an automatic reply or series of replies. In theory, you can never be accused of SPAM because you must be given the address to send to. Most reputable responders always include an instant exclude URL so prospects can opt out of a series of messages at any time.

There are really three types of autoresponder and each has differing degrees of sophistication:

1. FREE Autoresponders with advertising attached: These are seldom used by serious marketers because they make it seem as if your business is not successful enough to afford proper tools. There is a second type of 'free' responder offered by
some ISPs and web host services which will send a one-time response to any and every message received. It has no advertising but has no flexibility either.

2. Auto-response systems: The best of these is probably the one offered by ROIbot. It works with one of your own E-mail accounts and allows you total control of how, how many and when the response messages are sent. Some autoresponder systems charge more monthly than ROIbot does for their entire marketing package.

3. Dedicated Autoresponder services: These are businesses whose sole purpose is to provide you with topnotch, flexible and ad-free responders, where you can control content, timing and list management with relative ease.

The most convenient and least time consuming and also the most professional in appearance to your prospect is option 3. Of course, MSC-PRO PLUS has all the necessary features and some really neat extras.
