Get the Right tools for the job at hand:

Let's start with the very basic items. You need 4 simple things to make money on the Internet

A computer: Almost any will do. It doesn't have to be any thing fancy!

Internet access: The faster the better, but 28.8 is fine.

A VALUE proposition: Something of value your prospects need.

•

A promotion plan to put YOUR message in front of prospects.

We are going to assume, since you are reading this that you have Items 1 & 2 under control. If not, we'll wait while you set it up!!!

Now, Item 3 requires a little more thought. Many of you will already have excellent opportunities to offer. For the rest of this publication, we are going to assume that you do not currently have a central product to sell. If you do, you can simply substitute your own in the appropriate places.

We are going to build your Internet business around a phenomenon that has been breaking new ground on the web for just over a year. We will present you with five different options that should meet most of your needs and give you enough flexibility to keep most of your customers happy

You can easily and inexpensively set yourself up to accept all these different modes of payment without cost and for minimal ongoing fees. They are also ranked in ease of use and acceptability to your customers.

Clickbank:
Whoever came up with Clickbank, certainly had one great idea. It is a useful marketing tool, source of leads, affiliate program and method of accepting credit cards all at the same time. Oh yes! We forgot, it is also a source of Internet discounts. Let's take these items one by one:

1. Marketing tool - You can add any of the products and services offered through Clickbank to your own web site or promotional E-mails and widen your horizons and earn extra income.

2. Source of leads - when anyone makes a purchase through your links, you are able to get their name and E-mail address. Now you can do follow-up E-mail messages etc.

3. Affiliate Program - If you sell a product or service through Clickbank (as a merchant), you can set the level of commission you wish to give and Clickbank does the rest including helping you to get new affiliates.

4. Accepting Credit Cards - You can set up a merchant account for a one-time fee of $49.95. There are no monthly fees and no monthly minimums. As a tradeoff discount rates are higher than normal at 7.5% and there is a $1 transaction fee.

5. Source of Internet Discounts - Any purchase you make through your own affiliate link will result in the appropriate commission and/or discount being applied to your account.

We couldn't recommend Clickbank as a stand-alone business for new Internet Marketers because of lack of training, support and promotional materials but it makes a great add-on for additional sales and services to offer your prospects.

PayPal

This has come to be one of the more widely accepted methods of payment on the Internet. It was given a boost when they were able to allow international users to access the service. This has subsequently been scaled back and there are restrictions on international use. Nevertheless, PayPal is an inexpensive and easy-to-use option.

You can even make a small amount of money through PayPal by placing sign-up links on your site. PayPal will pay you $5 bounty for every new user who signs up through your link.

If you do a lot of business through your account, you will have to upgrade your account. Once you hit a threshold of $100 or more paid into your account, they will start charging you fees. Even so, these fees are small compared to Clickbank or other card processors.

E-Gold

E-Gold has become the de facto standard for inexpensive and secure financial transactions on the Internet. The account can be opened at no charge, can be completely anonymous and transaction fees are minimal. In addition, you can earn referral fees. So what is the downside?
It is not easy or inexpensive to fund an E-Gold account and your money is not easily redeemed from the account for the same reason. In fact, it is hard to find any service that will convert hard currency to E-Gold for less than 5%. This ends up being much higher service charges than for commercial credit card accounts.
It is very easy to be fooled into believing that this is the ideal method of transferring payments but once front-end and back-end charges are taken into consideration this is not necessarily true.

Osgold

Whenever someone comes up with a really great idea that catches on, it is only a matter of time before someone else comes up with an alternative, usually improved! It seems that Osgold is going to be the Avis of the online banking community.

They not only offer an alternative to the E-Gold monopoly, they claim to have overcome many of its deficiencies. Being relatively new on the scene, it remains to be seen whether they will have staying power, but already merchants are starting to make the switch or at least offering both options.

Other Methods

It is simply up to you to decide what other ‘manual’ payment methods you will accept. It is unwise to encourage people to send any easily negotiable financial instruments via mail. With personal checks, there are lengthy time delays and chances of non-sufficient funds are high. Very few people will actually use these extra options to send you payment, but you have little or nothing to lose by offering them as options and it all lends to the credibility of your operation .

Pro Secret:
By the time you have finished The Ten Steps, you will have joined at least 12 different programs. There is certain critical information that you will need to retain for each program. We suggest setting up a small database, even if it is freeform in a notepad file. It should include: Program Name, Referral URL, Affiliate URL (may be the same), Referral ID, User ID, password.
